Brough Castle is a stone keep and courtyard castle erected within the adapted earthworks of a Roman fort. It was burned down in 1521 and rebuilt in the 17th century before being abandoned. Its an English Heritage property, free to access.

Brough Hall is a substantial country house of the 18th century now subdivided into several privately occupied properties. The oldest part is a 15th century tower which forms the central part of the house first extended c1575.

Brougham Castle is a stone keep and courtyard castle occupying a spit of high land overlooking the River Eamont next to a Roman fort. It was founded c1203 and strengthened c1309, before being gentrified in the 16th century. It was badly damaged in the Civil War and fell into disrepair after 17th century refurbishment.

Brougham Hall is a strongly defended courtyard and hall of the 15th century, although some parts may be earlier. Much of the buildings date to the 16th/17th century rebuilding programme and 19th century extensions.

Broughton in Amounderness Tower
Broughton in Amounderness Tower was a 16th century tower house but has been completely demolished and a modern house now occupies the site. What can be seen from the public road is the overgrown north-western side of the rectangular moat and part of the platform to the south-east of the house - the small boundary ditch is post-medieval.

Broughton in Furness Tower is a large mansion mainly 18th/19th century but all built around a tower house dating to perhaps the 14th century the hall of which is lost. It is now run as a school and not open to the public.

Buckton Castle is a substantial but short-lived ringwork castle adjacent to a poorly defined rectangular earthwork on the top of a steep hill and next to the Buckton Vale Quarry. It consisted of a deep ditch with an oval platform inside surrounded by a stone wall and a rectangular gate tower.
