Bronllys Castle is a large motte and bailey castle, with a substantial round tower-keep built on top of the motte. The bailey is a private garden and inaccessible, but it is possible to access the motte and keep. It was founded in the late 11th century and the keep added in the mid 13th. It was abandoned in the late 15th century and in ruins by 1521. It’s maintained by Cadw but is free to enter.
