Sockburn Castle Details

Sockburn Castle was a manor of the Conyers family from the 11th century, and was probably defensive, but what remains are the extensive earthworks of the later manorial complex and village with (most likely) a small defended courtyard residence within the grounds of the 19th century Hall.
