Moulin Castle is a ruined courtyard castle of the 14th century built for the Campbell family after they were granted the lands around Pitlochry by Robert Bruce. It is surrounded by a dilapidated wire fence and is in a field, with a clearly marked access route from the hamlet of Moulin, where parking can be problematic. The castle was a quadrangular courtyard with corner towers, and can be dated to between 1315 and 1333, when John Campbell died and Moulin reverted to the Crown.

The castle was then granted with the earldom of Atholl to William Douglas of Lothian in 1342, who exchanged it for Liddesdale with Robert Stewart, the future Robert II. The castle then remained royal Stewart property until it was eventually abandoned in the 16th century during an epidemic of plague. It was never repaired or brought back into use, and much of the fallen masonry lies beneath grass and undergrowth. Historically the surrounding land was a marshy loch, which was drained in 1720.
