Manorbier Castle is a ruined 12th century courtyard castle which is privately owned, but run as a tourist attraction. It is a well-preserved courtyard castle of the 12th century on a spur of high land surrounded on two sides by river mouths. An outer ward is not walled in stone but accessible to the public. The castle is renowned for being the birthplace of the writer Gerald of Wales, and has many interesting features, including a Norman gate-tower and garderobe buttress.
