Manian Fawr

Manion Fawr is a farm overlooking the southern side of the Teifi estuary. Just west of the farm is a pronounced promontory, upon which are earthworks suggestive of a fortified site which has been categorised as a motte, although this is questionable. The earthworks consist of ditches which surround a roughly triangular platform, and an outer ditch lower down the point of the promontory. On the earliest OS map, a mound is shown to the east which has been levelled. The whole site is covered with trees and not visible from the public roads, so permission will be needed to access it.
