Mains Castle is a small tower house and courtyard in a public park on the outskirts of Dundee. It is occupied, and not open to the public, but at the time of my visit it was possible to book it as a venue. The buildings are visible from outside. The location is not particularly strong, and as there was an older structure here, it is likely to have always been used as a hunting lodge of some description.

Held by the Douglas Earls of Angus in the 14th century, the courtyard may date from their time, but the tower was added by the Grahams in 1562, whose descendants occupied the property until the 19th century. The buildings were ruined when the castle was sold to Sir James Caird and then gifted to the Dundee Corporation. It was restored by Dundee City Council in the 1980s.
