Maes Celyn Castle is the name given to an earthwork in a field overlooking the main A road and used for agriculture. The earthwork is oval in shape, and has a motte-like feature at one end with traces of masonry on the top, and a pronounced scarp across the centre. It is possible that the “bailey” area top the east was repurposed as a chapel site. Although it is possible to see the monument from the public road, views are restricted and there is no safe stopping space on the main road in particular – permission must be gained to access the site.
