Luggy Motte

Luggy Motte is a motte and bailey castle which sits on farmland adjacent to the Luggy Brook, which has eroded both features on the northern side. It can be seen from the roadside, as the bailey abuts the road, but permission to access it would be needed from the farmer. The motte has a ditch around it which has largely silted up, and the bailey has a bank. Whilst the Luggy Brook is a relatively minor watercourse, it is one of a number that would have had strategic importance in medieval times.
