Llanvair Discoed Castle

Llanfair Discoed Castle is a ruined 13th century courtyard castle which is hidden behind trees and is within the grounds of a private property who will not permit access to the site. This is a shame, since the ruin consists of the remains of a quadrangular courtyard castle with round towers at the corners and the remains of domestic buildings within. IT is immediately adjacent to the parish church, and the walls are surprisingly thin, so this may have been more about display than serious defence.
