Llantrisant Castle is a ruined courtyard castle incorporating remnants of an earlier motte and bailey within the town of Llantrisant. The ruins of the castle are free to access to the general public, and maintained by the local authority. What remains is the tall stump of a round tower-keep and fragments of a small courtyard and second tower, all of which occupied the high ground that is interpreted as the remaining part of a motte. It remained in use into the reign of Henry VII, but was probably falling into disrepair by this date.
