Llanilid Castle is a well-defined ditched ringwork which sits adjacent to the parish church. There is no evidence of a bailey, and the whole site is covered with trees, so it cannot be seen from the public roads, although it is probably visible from the track leading to the parish church. Permission will be needed to access the monument as it lies within the private grounds of the adjacent farm. It is likely that the castle was abandoned in the 13th or 14th century in favour of a rectangular manorial site to the south-east, but it is not known whether this was the result of destruction or choice.
