Llangybi Castle is a ruined and probably never finished 13th/14th century stone courtyard castle, built on high ground between two rivers, and overlooks the Usk valley. To the east is a large ditched motte with possible bailey that likely preceded it. The castle is rectangular in shape, with a monumental western facade, and was slighted after being defended in the Civil War. It is on private ground, and access is not encouraged by the landowners. It cannot be seen from the public roads, and is surrounded by woodland, although the courtyard area is kept clear. It was subject to a rather frustrating Time Team visit, first broadcast in 2010.
