Llangwm Uchaf Motte

Llangwm Uchaf motte is a ditched motte with a platform bailey that occupies a high shoulder of land overlooking the headwaters of the Llangwm Isaf Brook, which eventually flows into the River Usk. The bailey is now occupied by a farmhouse, and the motte, which has a pronounced dish, is to the rear of the farmhouse – it isn’t clear whether it is in a field or the garden. It is hidden from view by boundary hedging on the public roads, and permission must be sought to access it.
