Llanfair Treflygen Motte

Llanfair Treflygen Motte is a small and isolated motte on a hilltop near the site of an old church and burial ground. The mound has been mutilated by a trench running across it, and the ditch is filled in at each end. The motte is at the top of a steep slope overlooking the Nant Gwylan, a tributary of the Teifi, but does not appear to have strategic purpose so is perhaps manorial in purpose. It is in the middle of several agricultural fields, so permission should be sought if you wish to see it, as it cannot be seen from the road.
