Leslie Castle is an occupied tower house within a set of earthworks representing the site of a strongly defended manorial site or castle dating back to the 13th century built by the Leslie family. The castle was almost certainly destroyed in the early 14th century at the orders of Robert Bruce, and was repaired by 1458, when it was considered a castle.

It is likely that the tower and courtyard format was in place by the 16th century, although significant repairs appear to have been carried out in the 17th century when the Leslie family had sold to a family of Forbeses. Leslie Castle was held by the Leith-Hay family of Rannas in Moray, and occupied into the 19th century when it fell into disrepair. Repurchased by the chief of the Leslies, it was repaired and remains a private home, although it does seem to offer B&B accommodation at the time of writing.
