Knighton Castle

Knighton Castle is a modest motte and bailey castle which may have been refortified in stone. It is in the middle of the town and is loosely defined by the line of Plough Road, Market Street and Castle Street. The monument lies within a number of private gardens all of which are to the rear of housing, meaning that it cannot be seen easily from public roads. The best view is of the motte, which can be seen over the garages next to the fire station on Plough Road.
