Kerry Moat is a small motte and attached bailey protected by an external ditch. It is on top of a low hill and completely overgrown by trees, and today lies within the private gardens of The Moat. It overlooks the village of Kerry and parish church, and is not visible from the public roads The structure was constructed by local Welsh lords to watch over an important routeway which was threatened by the advancing power of the Mortimer family in the March.
