Hendy Motte is a modest sized ditched motte which was erected in low lying ground near the estuary of the notoriously treacherous Afon Loughor. A second fortification lies a short distance to the north, and a third is a short distance away to the south-east on the opposite side of the river. The two castles this side of the river are on opposing sides of a natural ridge that the river runs around, this one is to the south. The fields surrounding it are used for livestock so permission should be sought to access the sites.
