Goytre wood Motte is an isolated ditched motte which was erected on a shoulder of a prominent hill overlooking the River Monnow. It is covered by trees and has been mutilated by excavation, making it difficult to see on LIDAR, but with permission from the farmer, in person it is possible to see the ditch and the motte. There is no evidence of a settlement nearby, or of a church, which makes understanding the reason for its existence difficult.
