  • Closest To: Beulah, Llanwrtyd Wells
  • Access: Free Public Access
  • Grid Reference: SN919520

Fforest Castle is a roughly circular earthwork on the top of a prominent hill with wide views across the headwaters of the Afon Irfon and its tributaries. The earthwork is a rock-cut ditch with an external bank, and has a causewayed entrance to the north-west, where the natural contours drop away as a steep hillside. It is surrounded by farmland used for livestock, so permission should be sought to access the site, which cannot be seen from public roads. It is undetermined whether this is a ditched motte or an early medieval site.
