Ewloe Castle is a ruined 13th century castle of the Welsh princes of Gwynedd. It is maintained by Cadw, but free to the public and open all the time. There is parking in a layby opposite the track leading to the site. The castle overlooks a river confluence, and consists of one subdivided courtyard. In one courtyard is a D-shaped tower-keep, accessed by a high-level gate in the wall; the other has a round tower-keep on the wall. The caste was abandoned after the conquest of Wales by Edward I and never brought back into use.
