Dolbadarn Castle is a ruined castle of the princes of Gwynedd dating to the 13th century. It consists of a well-preserved round tower-keep and the footings of a courtyard with a number of buildings including at least two towers and a hall. The castle is maintained by Cadw, and is free to access by the public. It was dismantled for Edward I after the conquest of Wales, and never brought back into use, replaced by Caernarfon as the seat of power in the area.
