Denbigh Castle is a large and impressive castle on a hilltop site operated by Cadw as a tourist attraction, and therefore accessible for a fee. The castle consists of a massively strengthened courtyard on a site which may have served as a llys for the princes of Gwynedd. This castle was founded after the Welsh Wars of Edward I, and alongside it a new town was founded. It fell out of use during the Wars of the Roses and was slighted after the Civil War.
