Deganwy Castle was first fortified in the early medieval period, and remained an important site until the mid 13th century. The remains that can be seen on the twin summits of the hill are those of the short-lived castle of Henry III, which placed a stone courtyard around the larger summit, a smaller fortification on the other, and ditches and walls crossing the saddle between the two. The castle was destroyed by the Welsh and was never fully restored, eventually being superceded by Conwy. It is free to access, but a little tricky to locate the enytr points.
