Dale Castle is the name given to a modern house occupying an odd ravine site between the mainland and a small promontory at the south-western tip of Pembrokeshire. To the east, on a promontory site, are suggestions of fortification on Great Castle Head, and St James’ Church is near the castle. The basement of the house contains a great vault suggestive of a medieval origin, but in truth the whole building is badly understood. Parts can be seen from the public road, including ruins of what may have been a tower house of sorts.
