Chirk Motte

Chirk Motte, also known as Castell Y Waun, is a modest flat-topped mound which is in a private garden and can be seen from the public lane adjacent, as well as from the bridge, although it is less clear from here. It is possible that other features have been lost to landscaping – the motte was associated with a planned borough, like at Bala, although it predated the settlement by a long time.
