Castle Arnold is the name given to a small elongated mound in fields overlooking the Usk Valley. It is believed to have been the site of a llys-type compound belonging to the Welsh lords of Upper Gwent, and abandoned after the murder of the lord by William de Braose in 1175. There are masonry structures hidden below the ground, but the site has not been excavated. It lies in a field used for agriculture and permission should be asked to access the site, although it is not clear who owns it.
