Castell Y Domen Llangyndeyrn, e/w of ditched motte at top of a steep slope above river valley

  • Closest To: Carmarthen, Kidwelly
  • Access: Occasional Access
  • Grid Reference: SN437126

Castell Y Domen Llangyndeyrn is a ditched motte with possible remains of a bailey ditch sitting at the top of a steep bank overlooking the upper reaches of the Gwendraeth Fach. It is likely that the bank has eroded away somewhat, as part of the circular ditch and the edge of the motte are gone. This would remove the area in which the rest of the bailey may have stood. The site is isolated from other buildings, and can be reached via a public footpath across fields used for grazing.
