- Closest To: Llanbadarn-fynydd

- Grid Reference: SO125798
Castell-y-Blaidd is a horseshoe-shaped earthwork on top of a prominent hill overlooking the headwaters of the Gwenlas Brook, a tributary of the Ithon which eventually flows into the River Wye. The earthwork seems to be an incomplete irregular ringwork, with a rampart on the enclosed area, but the western end left largely unfinished. In scale and conception it has similarities with Tinboeth Castle a few miles downstream. It is remote and surrounded by farmland accessed through private tracks only, so permission will be needed to access it.
