Castell Trefilan

Castell Trefilan is an impressive ditched motte, and clearly visible from the main road. It lies at the end of a valley which contains the Nant Rhiw-afallen, a tributary of the Afon Aeron, and immediately adjacent to the church of St Hilary. Unfortunately the motte and ditch have repeatedly been encroached upon and dug into by the farm which sits adjacent, and is fenced off to keep dogs behind, so there is no access, and the landowner is clearly unsympathetic to its history.
