Castell Hywel is a large ditched motte which sites adjacent to the public road, and overlooking the valley of the Clettwr Fach, which ends up draining into the Teifi River. It was probably erected early in the 12th century, and was abandoned for about 15 years after its first destruction before being rebuilt by a Welsh prince called Hywel. It was recaptured by the English, and then disappears from history. It may be possible to access the site through the adjacent fields with permission from the farmer, but good views can be had from the road and lane.
