Castell Hendre

Castell Hendre is a small ditched motte lying adjacent to the church of St Brynach, indicative of a planned manorial settlement of the Flemings in the reign of Henry I. The ditch is almost entirely gone, and there is no surviving evidence of a bailey, although there is a sizeable enclosure to the south which may represent an earlier site of lordship. The motte also lies at the head of a pronounced ravine which drains into the Syfynwy river system.
