  • Grid Reference: SN653824

Castell Gwarcwm is a small ditched motte with a rectangular external bank on three sides. It occupies a site at the confluence of two small rivers, and the area to the west of the motte may have served as a bailey. It is completely overgrown and there is no public access to the site, although it can be made out from the road – when the trees are not in leaf. It is usually associated with the short-lived castle of Ystrad Peithyll mentioned in the chronicles in the early 12th century.
