Castell Dyffryn Mawr Details
Castell Dyffryn Mawr, e/w of large ditched motte with ?modern revetment & walling
- Closest To: Crymych
- Access: Occasional Access
- Grid Reference: SN175352
Castell Dyffryn Mawr is an isolated ditched motte on high ground which overlooks a minor (and marshy) river confluence of the Nevern, and has good views down the valley, but it must have been very isolated. The summit of the motte has a depression that may have been lined with a drystone wall. The site shows no evidence of a bailey, and there is no church nearby, suggesting it served a primarily military or symbolic purpose.
