Castell Cynon

Castell Cynon is a ditched motte which lies within the settlement of Lampeter Velfrey. It is a very short distance from the parish church which is typical of planned medieval settlement pattern in the area, but overlooks it from higher ground (the end of a small ridge) and from across a small watercourse. There is no suggestion of any bailey area. Today it cannot be seen from any public roads and lies adjacent to a plant hire yard – who presumably have to be approached for access.
