Castell Cynfal, e/w of C12 ditched motte with summit bank on natural rocky hillock

Castell Cynfal is a ditched motte situated on an outcrop which has good views over the Dysynny estuary, with no signs of a bailey or an associated settlement. The motte has a pronounced perimeter rampart, but there is no surviving evidence of buildings on the summit. North-west on the far side of the estuary is a matching ditched motte on the edge of the river. The site is surrounded by fields and overlooks the farm; permission should be sought from the farmer if you wish to access it.
