Castell Coch Ystradfelllte is a promontory castle seemingly fortified as a motte and bailey, with the motte at the point and highest level of the promontory, which lies between two small sreams. The castle was refortified in stone, and parts of the ruins survive, although the site is heavily overgrown, and it is possible that the motte is in fact largely collapsed masonry from a tall round tower-keep. In order to access the castle site it is necessary to walk some distance down a farm track, so getting permission from the farmer is advisable.
