Castell Cadwaladr or Caer Penrhos, e/w of large ringwork within hillfort serving as bailey

  • Closest To: Llanrhystud
  • Access: Occasional Access
  • Grid Reference: SN552696

Castell Cadwaladr is an irregular shaped ringwork which was constructed within the ramparts of an Iron Age hillfort, and is now within fields used for grazing, so permission should be sought from the farmer to access. It dates to the 12th century, and the fort has good views down the valley to the coast, although bizarrely the ringwork is overlooked by parts of the fort to the north and west.
