Castell Aber Cafwy is a small ringwork/motte with bailey on a ridgetop site overlooking the Taf estuary and its confluence with the Afon Cywyn. The upper enclosure has a low rampart around the edge, and a short distance away is a ruined church. Both are believed to date to the early 12th century when the lordship of Ystlywf was centred on this estate. To reach it you have to walk through a private garden and across fields, so permission should be sought from the farmer.
