Cas Troggy Details

Cas Troggy, substantial ruins of small and ?incomplete C14 courtyard castle of Bigods

  • Closest To: Tredunnock, Llantrisant Fawr

Cas Troggy is an excellent and surprising ruin in fields used for agriculture so permission should be gained before trying to access. It is obscured by trees and cannot be seen from the public roads. The ruin seems to be that of an impressive 14th century hall-house, with angular towers at two corners and the remnant of an outer courtyard, which is of lower quality masonry and might be an earlier structure. The whole was surrounded by a wet moat, some of which survives. It was probably a hunting lodge, without serious defensive purpose.
