Carmarthen Castle was once the main royal stronghold in south Wales, and although only a small part survives, it is still impressive. The keep, curtain wall, gatehouse and two towers of the main west frontage can be seen from public roads and footpaths, and are provided with information panels. Most of the site has been built over, County Hall occupying the main courtyard area, but it is still well worth a look.
