Caernarfon Castle is the iconic quasi-imperial palace fortress of Edward I dating to just after his second Welsh war. The massive banded walls and multangular towers dominate the town, which has a complete set of stone walls. Construction continued for 30 years, but it was never completed to its original design, and it fell into disuse in the 16th century. It is a Cadw property.
