Caerau Motte is a small mound which was erected within the earthworks of the Roman auxiliary cavalry fort of Caerau, which dates to c75 CE and was abandoned in the Antonine period. The fort site is now occupied by a farm, so you will need permission to view the mound. The defences of the fort were almost certainly usable in the medieval period, and as there was an internal area of about 4 acres, was large enough to house a manorial settlement of some sort.
