Caer Licyn is an irregular shaped earthwork consisting of a ditch with an internal upcast bank that survives in part. The site occupies a hilltop location overlooking the Usk Valley, and is partially covered by woods. Within the enclosed area is a modest mound with a rounded summit and no other defensive features. I am not convinced this is a medieval structure at all; it seems more like a burial mound and hillfort of the Iron Age or earlier to me.
