Caw Wall Wood Motte is a small rectangular ditched platform overlooking a small ravine containing a stream. It may have been the predecessor to nearby Pencoed Castle, demolished and used as a quarry for building materials, and then as a pond. It is consistent in size and shape with a moated manorial centre of the 13th or 14th century. Access is not clear and the site is covered by trees.
