Cae Burdydd Castle is a small ditched mound in an overgrown field on the edge of the river gorge of the Taff, provided with a slight upcast bank on the outside. A short distance away is the site of a 13th century church, indicative of a small nuclear manorial settlement, making it more likely this was a small castle, the mound perhaps containing the masonry of a collapsed tower. On the southern side of the same gorge is the massive site of Morlais Castle, built by Gilbert de Clare.
