Braikie Castle is a derelict tower house that was occupied until the 1950s. Access is not generally permitted as the interior is dangerous (the roof started to fall in in the 1960s), and the tower itself is in a field used for livestock. The tower was built in the 16th century for the Fraser family, and passed through several hands as part of the wider estate, probably being kept as the farmhouse for as much as 200 years.

The castle is of high quality design, with plenty of shot holes and decorative masonry as well as a heraldic panel above the front door, and is a good example of the standard L-plan layout, with vaulted basement cellars, a great hall on the first floor and accommodation above. The stairs leading to the upper floors are contained within a round turret above the front door, and the one of third floor bedrooms has a projecting bartizan turret.
