Bonvilles Castle was a medieval tower house, which can probably be categorised as a defended manorial complex. Records show that between 1868 and 1900 Bonville’s Court, as it was known by that time, went from dilapidation to complete demolition during coal mining operations. The site, generally speaking, is now covered by Bonville’s Court Country Park, which is a holiday park, but the exact location of the masonry shown on the earliest Ordnance Survey is now in a private garden and cannot be accessed.
