Barland Motte is a motte and bailey castle which overlooks low lying land to the south and is close to Offa’s Dyke. 19th century excavations revealed evidence of timber post holes, and it has been suggested that the mound may contain the ruins of a collapsed tower. It is on private ground adjacent to the public road, but hidden by high hedges.
